100 Things To Do Before Leaving For College |
HEY! LOOK OVER HERE! to find the actual list quickly, here's the link: http://the2010adventure.tumblr.com/post/302097299/list that should work splendidly... |
I’m OBSESSED.
I have 87 more things to do. EIGHTY-SEVEN. Do you know how many days left I have before college? 12. I have TWELVE days left.
Holy sheesh.
Wow, was this a scary one! But more importantly, it was SO WORTH IT. Haley, Courtney, Shannon, and I braved the dark and haunted paths of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery on FRIDAY THE 13TH of August to visit a graveyard at night. It actually was less spooky than I expected, and more just frightening because I thought we were going to be found and arrested. That or the candle we brought mightve accidentally lit the historic goldmine on fire. I would not have wanted to be the one responsible for burning down author’s ridge.
Anywho, it was adorable of us to set up a blanket and sit and hold hands and promise to always be there for each other.
You might think to yourself, is that all you accomplished in one night Kate? No, that is not all. While the graveyard was AWESOME, I’m pretty sure we broke some laws along the way, so I can cross that off.
What else did we do? I will tell you. Next, the four of us took a little ride (at 11 at night, mind you) to the 24-Hour CVS in Bedford. I will tell you why.
WE BOUGHT CONDOMS. Oh my god was it awkward. I don’t know how people do that for real. The cashier was like inquiring me about CVS cards and all I wanted to do was buy the Trojan pleasure pack and get outta there. And the people parked next to us in the lot definitely knew what was up.
I will not tell you what became of the condoms dear reader, that is for you to wonder.
61. Visit a graveyard at night
66. Break the law
69. Buy condoms
The sensational six, as Shannon likes to call us, did an amazing job raising money for the Relay for Life in Salem this year.
Of course I had more fun than I could handle. Of course I bought way more than I could afford. Of course it was ok because it was going for a good cause.
What made me feel the best was that we had an actual on-site fundraiser this year, so as to avoid the awkward stares we got last year when people would march by our camp plot to find nothing entertaining or money-raising.
Cam and Gordon’s beautiful bean bag toss stole the show. Someone won a tv. We all felt a little better inside.
5. Donate to charity
23. Volunteer for a cause
The Crew goes to Moonadonock! Some time in May or June I think, the entire crew took a hiking trip up mount monadnock. I couldn’t have asked for better friends to do it with. Honestly though, thank god Kayla was there to push my butt up all those damn rocks because I was not having an easy time climbing a mountain on the white dot trail. The mountain guide man thought he’d play a terrible trick on us and say white dot was the easiest trail up. Another man who looked like he could run a supermarathon told us at one point that we were 10 minutes from the peak. FALSE.
Yes, I admit, I DID NOT make it up and down that mountain with ease. At one point, I may have flipped Gordon the bird when he asked me if I was having fun. Nevertheless, I had a GREAT TIME with all ten of us. With some hiking boots, and a more chipper attitude, I’d do that hike over and over if I had to.
20. Go on a hike
I’ve been so behind it’s not even funny anymore. Shannon is on my case all the time about my lack of blog updating abilities. I’m sorry. It’s been a crazy summer…there is still a lot to do though. On the bright side of a lot of stuff has been done.
Stay tuned for some delicious new material!
I’ll be here for the rest of the week!
Which inspires me to try to cross a few more things off my list:
21. Swim in a pond, a pool, a lake, and an ocean
35. Read ten books (not including required school reading)
48. Watch a sunrise
98. Take a freezing cold shower (that’ll be easy)
peace concord.
Hoorah! I just finished the first out of TEN books I have to read before heading off to college. Everything I Needed to Know About Being A Girl I Learned From Judy Blume was really great. A lot of times while reading it, I wished I had actually read some of Judy Blume’s books besides Superfudge, but regardless the essays by a bunch of different authors were super interesting. I liked some more than others though…
How ironic that I just read that book and like a week ago Judy Blume’s 17 year old grandson was charged with rape…what a creep.
What should I read next?? I’m thinking maybe some Kurt Vonnegut…or maybe the book I saw Ryan reading on the recommendation of Seth Cohen while I was watching the OC!
Baccalaureate night was bomb. I got ten pairs of free flip flops, two free shirts, I won a gift card to bed bath and beyond, and most importantly I GOT TO CROSS SOMETHING OFF THE LIST. I gave a speech, thus performing for the public. It was really scary, and I could feel my face shaking (which is weird), but I think it went over pretty well. But what really made it amazing is that all my friends showed up and sat right in the front to support me. It made me SO happy. I love them.
13. Perform for the public
In case y’all haven’t seen this I now present: Double Rainbow.
